Hair products I would rather not live without!

Here’s a rundown of products tried and true products I’ve used on my hair. Most are readily available in drugstores, and none of them will break the bank! All images below link to Amazon for easier shopping! Or click here for the the complete shopping list!

My general hair 411:

Shampoo — I only shampoo my scalp and try to avoid soaping up what would be the ponytail section. That way the ends don’t dry out, they need all the moisture they can get! Once a week, I shampoo twice in a row with TRESemme Botanique to boost shine with a super clean scalp.

Anti-Residue Shampoo — Hair products, sweat, and environmental pollutants can make your hair really dull and will cause build-up overtime. Salons now are starting to offer “specialized treatments” to clarify the hair and scalp, but honestly, for a LOT less money, Neutrogena’s Anti-Residue shampoo has been a mainstay for over 20 years (I think), and I’m OBSESSED. I personally have used it since high school. Periodically (maybe once or twice a month), I use the shampoo to de-gunk and de-wax any buildup that has happened. It claims it’s is safe for color-treated hair though I wouldn’t recommend using it within a week of a salon visit to be on the safe side.

Conditioner — I mainly condition the ponytail section of my hair so my roots don’t stay cleaner for day 2 and day 3 hair, but I’m LIBERAL with the amount of this HASK Monoi Oil conditioner I use. I also leave it in while I wash the rest of my bod so it has time to do it’s thing.

Smoothing Balm — I’ve always used a pre-blow dry smoothing balm of some sort. And again, I really only use it on the ponytail section of my hair so my roots don’t get build-up. I use about 2-3 peas worth of the TRESemme Get Sleek balm before I blow dry. It’s also great to bring life back to dry ends on Day 2 hair. Note: Product image links to a 2-pack, it was only $1 more than buying just one bottle.

Bodifying Hair Spray — Don’t be afraid of a classic can of aerosol hair spray! On days I curl my hair, this Paul Mitchell spray MAKES the style. It adds so much body to my hair without being sticky or stiff yet will HOLD the perfect amount of curl all day long.  To refresh day hair before evening plans, I will often times add another spray tornado to my hair, haha, and do a light scrunching motion to re-fluff the style.

Volumizing Dry Shampoo – I’ve tried so many others and keep coming back to the TRESemme Volumizing Dry Shampoo. It adds the best lift, doesn’t have overpowering perfume smell, and gives great texture for styling.
